Today I went to one of the most notorious/famous Big Island food spots: Cafe 100. Or as I like to call it, Cafe 1,000,000. It’s been in Hilo for like 60 years. They have a very unique item called the Loco Moco, which they may or may not have invented.
As you can see, I had a real hard time deciding which one to choose! They have like 20 different versions of it, with different items and combinations. It’s actually quite interesting to see all the combinations he can make 4 u!
Wanting to be tru 2 his origins, I ordered the basic loco moco, but with brown rice. So a loco moco is a sunny side up egg, some gravy, a hamburger patty, and a bed of rice. Sounds weird, ah? It’s actually pretty good, but also pretty heavy. That’s why I only ordered a regular loco. In my heyday, I ordered the Super Loco, which is like 3x the items…
My old friend, Les accompanied me. She ordered the Beef Stew Loco, which was actually kinda interesting. It’s the loco moco formula, but without the gravy and hamburger patty. We were both impressed.
Afterwards, we had to encourage some digestion with some nice probiotic bacteria, and yogurtland was the place to find them! I got a real nice berry blast, with blueberry tart and original, along with some nice berries and kiwi fruit ontop. Les got a real grab-bag one, with a whole bunch of weird flavors that I didn’t think went well together.
But hey, whatever gives float to ur boat!
